About
DeAnna Skedel is a Kansas City artist and professor whose intuitive, interdisciplinary practice explores memory, matriarchal wisdom, and transformation through eco-printing, drawing, assemblage, and found materials. Her layered works weave together natural and human-made objects to uncover stories embedded in plants, places, and personal histories, honoring the often-unseen labor, creativity, and emotional lives of women. Since 2002, Skedel has exhibited nationally and internationally while also building a deeply respected teaching practice at Metropolitan Community College–Blue River, where she received the Missouri Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her work embraces reflection, intuition, and the slow accumulation of meaning, viewing artmaking as both a creative inheritance and a way of navigating personal evolution, caregiving, and connection to the natural world.
